At gaitQ®, we believe in the power of involving people with Parkinson’s in the design and development of gaitQ tempo™.
Who better to design a device that improves the walking experience for Parkinson’s than the people with Parkinson’s themselves? At gaitQ®, we believe in the power of collaboration, and it is at the core of our philosophy. We actively involve people with Parkinson’s in the design and development process of our ground-breaking product, gaitQ tempo™, ensuring that their feedback and requests shape a device that surpasses their expectations.
Tristan, the CEO of gaitQ® is sharing two examples of how people with Parkinson’s feedback helped the improvement of our device.
“In our quest to create a device for people with Parkinson’s, gaitQ’s product designers faced a challenge: finding the right strap. Thanks to conversations with people living with Parkinson’s and physiotherapists, we discovered that clickable straps were difficult for individuals with Parkinson’s to use. So, they came up with a brilliant solution: a magnetic clasp. The feedback from the community was overwhelmingly positive, with users finding the new strap incredibly easy to use.”
Another eye-opening experience showed Tristan and his team that assumptions don’t always align with reality.
“We initially designed a device holder with the flexibility to insert the device from any side. However, when tested with people with Parkinson’s, we quickly realized the design didn’t work in practice. People were frustrated as the device kept falling through. Taking this feedback to heart, we revamped the holder, ensuring the device was fully encapsulated. This simple change made all the difference.”
At gaitQ®, we believe in the power of involving people with Parkinson’s in the design and development of gaitQ tempo™. By harnessing their expertise and incorporating their feedback, we create a product that truly addresses their unique needs. Together, we are breaking new ground in the field of medical device innovation.
Join us on this exciting journey as we empower people with Parkinson’s to become the best “designers” of their own walking experience. Together, we can transform lives and redefine what’s possible.
